This place is dreamy- and delicious! The atmosphere is on point, Very open and inviting. But the flavors will surely make you a fan.
I had the tacos. The chicken and poblano! If I recall correctly our server mentioned they had they rely of flame and hot coals to give the poblano it’s robust flavor. (Photographer with iPhone 10 for size comparison )
I also had a chance to try the quesadilla, please do too if you’re a fan of charred corn!
Also tried, but not pictures, two cocktails. The Esmeralda and Spicy margarita. Both highly recommended.
Only thing I’d critique would be the Guacamole, I felt it needed a little salt and lime.
Great food. Try the cochinita tacos, quesadilla and definetely the queso, which takes a little while to be ready. Cocktails are well prepared and staff is very kind. Will be insanely crowded in a stadium event but should be ok otherwise. The food resembles real latin american cuisine.
Walked in Friday night without a reservation and was lucky to be seated right away. Server and host were very friendly. The pear pisco sour cocktail was refreshing and delicious. I had the pork rinds with avocados to start. It came with a massive mound of avocado. The pork rinds were awesome; so awesome the avocado seemed superfluous. I also had a shrimp ceviche type dish served with saltines. The saltines didn't really add anything for me but that also allowed the flavors of the ceviche to come forward further. My main course was the whole trout stuffed with mushrooms wrapped in tortillas and parchment paper baked in a wood fire with a grilled lime on the side. Excellent and very very well presented. They just opened a few weeks ago but service was good.
When you have a little less than an hour for lunch, you try finding something right across the street. And that’s exactly how we landed in Copal today for some lunch.
After quickly settling down & handed down our menus, we decide to share a portion of Guacamole served with some tortillas.
The guacamole was fresh & chunky, went really well with the warm tortillas & some pickled radish served alongside. The lemon wedges really helped to add the citrusy punch, as needed.
I was a vegetarian for today & hence ordered a wild mushroom quesadilla, with roast chilli, corn & salsa. A decent portion of 3, with balanced cheese punch, very mild wild mushroom flavours & strong roast chilli smear on top. Though the portion size seemed small, it was very filling for lunch.
Decor is very bright, sunny & very Mexican, loved the special touches like the fresh lemon being scraped for adding the rinds to the cocktails.
Exquisite food, perfect ambiance. The grilled queso is delicious, and the flambéd platanos are a must try. The chicharrones are the least favorite—nothing special.
Good food in a cool, casual space. All the dishes were super tasty. Tried each of the tacos, the Salvadoran Cheese and the roasted carrots which were expectable delicious. Would rate 4.5 stars
It was my first time there. What a gem of a place. Food was great very tasty. We sat at the bar before Monday night football had a blast during happy hour before the game.
Very over priced place, though it is an aesthetically pleasing place. The reason why I say it's over priced is because for one hand sized taco it costs $4 and I buy my tacos for .79 cents each at Antojos, bruh. If you want to go for authentic Mexican food I would suggest somewhere else, though if you want a good Instagram pic it's perfect for only that since the tacos weren't as spicy or flavorful.
